Nama Peter Beets mungkin masih asing bagi sebagian anda. Namun pianis kelahiran Den Haag, Belanda 12 Juni 1971 ini terlahir dari keluarga yang sudah sangat akrab dengan musik. Ibunya adalah seorang pengajar musik klasik, sementara garis jazz datang dari sang ayah yang mengakrabi karya-karya pianis Oscar Peterson dan drummer Art Blakey.
Peter Beets telah bermain sepanggung bersama para musisi jazz kenamaan seperti Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Coleman, Johnny Griffin, Chris Potter dan John Clayton.
Karir internasionalnya bermulai dari rekaman yang dikerjakannya bersama Jeff Hamilton dan Curtis Fuller “New York Trio” yang dirilis tahun 2001.
Sebagian anda yang mungkin mencoba mencari referensi tentang dirinya pasti akan menemukan pula dua saudara laki-lakinya yaitu Marius dan Alexander yang memainkan bass dan tenor saxophone.

Peter belajar di Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Sejatinya ia belajar musik sambil mempelajari ilmu hukum, namun tampaknya virus Jazz lebih menjalar ditubuhnya sehingga ia memutuskan berkonsentrasi di musik semata.

Peter juga berkontribusi dalam sejumlah karya musisi/group sebut saja Tom Klein, Lils Mackintosh, Mark Alban Lotz, Piet Noordijk Boptet, Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Deborah Carter & Michael Varekamp & Frits Landesbergen, Rosenberg Trio – sampai the Dutch Lady of Jazz Rita Reys.
Terakhir ia ikut dalam album Saxophnis Koh Mr. Saxman / Alexander Beets Quartet / Artvark Saxophone Quartet – King Of Jazz (Tribute To Hm King Bhumibol ) sebuah album tribute untuk Raja Thailand.
Peter juga bekerjasama dengan pianis Chick Corea dalam sebuah duet grand piano tahun 2005. Proyek teaternya “From Bach till Blues” (2003) atau “Chopin meets the Blues” serta “The Blues goes Latin” menunjukan kemampuan lebihnya.
Peter Beets dijadwalkan tampil di Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2013.
